Small actions, big impact: how to join Mission Valladolid

Let’s be honest: when we talk about climate change, it’s easy to feel small. What can one person do in the face of a global problem? The answer is closer than you think: in how you get to work, how you heat your home, what you buy and where you buy it.

Every action counts (really)

You don’t need to become an activist or radically change your life. Mission Valladolid is built on everyday decisions:

  • Be mindful of energy use at home. LED bulbs, properly set thermostats, efficient appliances...
  • Walk or cycle when the distance allows it. Valladolid is a flat city with good pavements—let’s make the most of it.

  • Use public transport. One full bus means dozens fewer cars in the city center.

  • Reduce waste before recycling. The best waste is the waste that is never produced.

  • Support local businesses. Shopping in neighborhood stores reduces transport emissions and strengthens our economy.

It’s not about perfection, it’s about awareness

No one expects you to sell your car tomorrow and live only on what you grow on your balcony. It’s about being aware. About asking yourself, before acting, whether there is a more sustainable option. Sometimes there will be; other times, not. But simply considering it already makes you part of the solution.

The Mission belongs to everyone. And it starts today, with the next decision you make.

Other ways to get involved

These small actions also took shape this June at the LASAMOA Pool Festival, Viviendo el Río, which was organized as a sustainable festival, respecting the environment, promoting responsible use of water and energy, encouraging sustainable mobility, and offering festival activities such as environmental and recycling workshops for families and children. And it all stems from the same idea: being more aware and experiencing the city through nature. The Mission Valladolid, which already has more than 200 committed companies, lies at the heart of this festival, which has served as a platform to amplify its values.
