One mission, one hundred European cities

Valladolid is part of the 100 cities selected by the European Union to lead the climate transition. This means funding, innovation, and—above all—responsibility. But it also means something closer to home: the opportunity to redesign how we move, how we consume, and how we live in our city.

The goal may seem ambitious—and it is—but the key is understanding that it doesn’t depend only on large infrastructures or political decisions. It depends on us. On every everyday choice we make almost without thinking.

Why should you care?

Because you breathe Valladolid’s air. Because you walk its streets. Because you want your children, nieces, nephews, or neighbors to grow up in a city where cycling isn’t an adventure and where parks are more than green islands surrounded by asphalt.

Mission Valladolid is not a slogan. It’s an invitation to ask ourselves what kind of city we want—and what we are willing to do to achieve it. In the coming posts, we’ll share how you can get involved with simple actions that, multiplied by thousands of residents, can make a real difference.

A Mision festival

LASAMOA Pool Festival, Viviendo el Río, the Mission festival held in June, supports this transformation of the city: a sustainable festival that brought the values of the mission and sustainability closer to citizens with activities for all audiences along the Pisuerga riverbanks. The event strengthened a key natural space in the city and Valladolid’s green lung. That’s why we inaugurated the Mission City Square (Plaza Ciudad Misión), surrounded by trees and shade, which has already welcomed the Mission’s 2026 ambassador, Narciso Suárez, our Olympic canoeist, lifelong linked to the Valladolid river.
